Early production Charles Eames for Herman Miller lounge chair and ottoman 670 / 671

Product code: 2536

Gorgeous early production black leather and rosewood 670 /671 lounge chair and ottoman, designed by Charles and Ray Eames.

The Eames' originally designed the set as a gift for their friend, the director, Billy Wilder ("Some Like It Hot", "Sunset Boulevard.").

We understand this set dates from the late 1950s.

The patina of the rosewood is beautiful.  The wood is in good condition with some edge wear - tiny bumps and a couple of small chips on the edges (not very noticeable).

The leather is in good vintage condition for a 60 year old chair, and the down filling is nice and thick still, the leather looks supple and gorgeous and it's very comfortable.

If you want a new-looking chair, this will not be for you, but if you want a chair with tons of character that epitomises cool - this is it!  Eames' vision in designing it was to evoke "a well-used baseball mitt" and he nailed it.

The metal base is in good vintage condition - some scratches and scuffs commensurate with age but nothing noticeable.

Overall the chair is in good vintage condition.

A highly collectable, modern classic.  The definitive lounge chair.
